Who this covers

This policy describes the information handled by this Redline desk. It applies to people who create a short link and to people who open one. The websites a short link points to have their own policies.

When a link is created

Redline stores:

Creating a link does not require an account, and Redline does not ask for your name or email address.

When a link is opened

Each visit adds to that link’s click count. Redline also keeps a daily total and the time of the most recent visit. Daily totals older than about two months are discarded. The visitor’s name is not stored with the click.

Admin sign-in

The admin desk uses a sign-in cookie so the operator stays signed in. The cookie is limited to this site. The password is stored only as a hash on the server, not as readable text.

Limits and addresses

Redline may briefly remember a network address in memory to slow down repeated link creation or failed sign-in attempts. Those values are not saved in the link records and are dropped when the time window ends or the server restarts.

How the information is used

The records are used to redirect visitors, show click totals in the admin desk, and operate the service. They are not sold. They stay on the server where this Redline desk is running.

Advertising

The homepage and the short-link page may load an advertisement from ExoClick on both computers and phones. That company can set its own cookies and receive the page address. Those cookies belong to the advertising service, not to the link records stored by Redline.

Removal

Deleting a short link from the admin desk removes its destination and its click history from this server. Pausing a link keeps the record but stops the redirect.

Changes

This policy can be updated. The date at the top of this page is the current version. The Terms of Use explain how the desk itself may be used.
